Beautiful and poignant and hopeful words. Thank you. Your grace in the midst of the hardship you are navigating is balm for my soul today. I am praying for respite and rest for you and your family as you walk through all this.
Your words remind me of the decorative tile a friend gave us that we have hanging in our living room. It says “Love is where compassion prevails and kindness rules.”
Thank You Katie for sharing how these reflections hit you. This is unquestionably a season of hard, but as much as I often lament the difficulty, there is MUCH Grace interwoven with the grief. And I love the message on your living room tile: Love is indeed where compassion prevails and kindness rules!❤️ Hugs to Ryan and the little one!
You bring to us the truth of how unexpected and fleeting this life can be. At a time when the “culture of belligerence “ has seemingly been normalized, your story checks our ethics and frustrated inclinations. We do have the choice of how we respond to life, every day, multiple times a day. Let’s choose loving kindness, on repeat. Kindness matters. Thank you for your thoughtful post.
Thank You Janet. Spending my days in this season, surrounded by the elderly and infirm, is proving to be an eye opening and transformational experience. My perspective on how we treat one another has been irrevocably altered in the last three months. Kindness DOES indeed matter! My change in perspective is all a change for the better, despite the very frustrating circumstances that served as the catalyst for this change!
I understand and concur, Olivia. I’ve often reflected upon the notion that we encounter events we would never ask for, yet wouldn’t trade for where the journey has taken us…all for the better. There are many of us walking along side you. Keep sharing these hard and beautiful stories.
